Our Medical Staff

Syeachia N. Dennis, M.D., MA
Dr. Dennis specializes in family medicine and women’s health.

She is board certified in family medicine. Additionally, she has certifications in Implanon insertion and removal, Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics and Basic Cardiac Life Support. In addition to Oklahoma, she is licensed to practice in Illinois.

She is a member of American Association of Family Physicians, American Medical Association and the National Medical Association.

She is a graduate of the Loyola (Ill.) Stritch School of Medicine and Southern Illinois University and an undergraduate from Wellesley College. Dr. Dennis performed her residency at the West Suburban Family Medicine Program (Oak Park, Ill.)

 

William Geffen, M.D.
Dr. Geffen is a pediatrician and clinical professor.

He is board certified in pediatrics. Prior to Morton, Dr. Geffen was on the staff as a clinical professor at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine and served as interim medical director of the OUSCM Pediatric Clinic in 2009 and was a pediatrician at Utica Park Clinic for 31 years. Dr. Geffen is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and its Oklahoma chapter, and a member of the American Medical Association, Oklahoma State Medical Association, former president of the Tulsa County Medical Society and currently chair of the TCMS Foundation board. He is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Pediatrics.

He is a graduate of the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School and an undergraduate from Rice University. Dr. Geffen performed his residency at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital.        

J. Matt Gentry, O.D.
Dr. Gentry serves as Morton’s optometrist.

He is an active candidate for the American Board of Optometry Board Certification. He began his career as department head and staff optometrist at the Choctaw Nation Health Clinic.

Dr. Gentry is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians.

He is a graduate of Northeastern State University College of Optometry. He completed his undergraduate studies at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Gentry conducted his residency at the Albuquerque Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Stephen K. Martin, D.O.
Dr. Martin is the family practice provider at the Nowata Family Health Center location.

Before coming to Morton, Dr. Martin was medical provider at the Indian Health Care Resource Center, in private practice with the Turley Family Clinic, and an adjunct clinical faculty member with the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

He has authored or co-authored many papers and publications. His published works have addressed the topics of diabetes, hypertension, lung disease, and rural and suburban settings among other subjects.

He is a graduate of the Kansas City (Mo.) College of Osteopathic Medicine and an undergraduate of Southern Methodist University. Dr. Martin completed his residency at the Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital in Tulsa.

 

Asim Maqsood, M.D.
Dr. Maqsood is in the Family Practice department at Morton.

He is board certified from the American Board of Family Medicine, Basic/Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Life Support for Obstetrics and Pediatrics Advanced Life Support. Dr. Maqsood is licensed to practice in Oklahoma and Kentucky.

Dr. Maqsood was a family practice physician at the Medical Point of Care (Liberty, Ky.) prior to joining Morton’s staff.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America.

He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College Of Medicine and an undergraduate of the King Edward Medical College. He finished his internship at the Mayo Hospital (Lahore, Pakistan).

 

Christopher Puls, M.D., CMO
Dr. Puls is the chief medical officer. Dr. Puls specializes in behavioral and mental health services.

He is the former director of the Behavioral Health Services department at Morton.

He is board certified in general psychiatry, and in child and adolescent psychiatry. He is a fellow from the Child Psychiatry department at the University of Colorado.

He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Oklahoma Psychiatric Association.

He is a graduate of the St. Louis School of Medicine and an undergraduate of Indiana University. Dr. Puls completed his residency at Washington University (St. Louis, Mo.).

Sarah-Anne Henning Schumann, M.D.                  
Dr. Schumann is a family doctor and associate chief medical officer, academic and community programs. She is also assistant dean for community medicine at the OU-Tulsa School of Community Medicine.

Before moving to Tulsa in 2011, she was director of community health and service-learning at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. While living in Chicago, she additionally served as a family doctor at Chicago Family Health Center.

She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Schumann is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

She is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard College. She completed her family medicine residency training at Boston Medical Center. In addition to her receipt of several awards and honors, she is the author and co-author of several peer review publications and presentations.

Nicole Smith, M.D.
Dr. Smith is a pediatrician at Morton’s main location. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics.

She has certifications as a basic life support provider, pediatric advanced life support and neonatal resuscitation.

Dr. Smith is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Southern Medical Association.

She is a graduate of the St. Matthews School of Medicine and an undergraduate of Northeastern State University and Tulsa Community College. Dr. Smith completed her residency at the University of Oklahoma - Tulsa Pediatric Residency program.

Alejandro Lozano Zaldivar, M.D.                                                    
Dr. Loranzo is an obstetrician and gynecologist.

Before Morton, he was a general care medical doctor for the Urgent Care Clinic at the Clinica Adelaida Lafon (Monterrey, Mexico).

He is a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, and the Tulsa OBGYN Society.

Dr. Lozano completed his medical studies at the Universidad de Monterrey (Mexico). His post-graduate training was conducted at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa School of Community Medicine. He is a co-author of several publications.

Corey Schoenewe, D.O.
Dr. Schoenewe is the primary physician at the East Tulsa Family Health Center. He is bilingual in Spanish.

Before joining Morton, he was in private practice at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Clinic.

Dr. Schoenewe is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Osteopathic Association and the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association. He is licensed to practice in Oklahoma and Texas.

He is a graduate of the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his undergraduate degree at OSU. He performed his residency at the University of Oklahoma Family Medicine Clinic.

Teri Reed-Cook, DDS
Dr. Reed Cook is a general dentist. She is located at the Nowata Family Health Center.

She has 20 years of experience in general dentistry with an emphasis on pediatric dentistry. Prior to working for Morton, Dr. Reed-Cook has practiced in Tulsa and in private practice in Denison, Texas.

Dr. Reed-Cook is a member of the Oklahoma Dental Association, Texas Dental Association and Odontological Honor Society at Baylor College of Dentistry.

She is a graduate of the Baylor College of Dentistry. She completed her undergraduate studies at Austin College in Sherman, Texas.
